Emmett Ray Adkins, 60, of Earling, W.Va., formerly of Blair, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Emmett and Eliza May Baldwin Adkins and son, Kenneth Ray Adkins. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Adkins of Earling; one brother, Randy Lee Adkins of Blair; one uncle, Casey Adkins Jr. of Danville; one aunt, Lorine McNeely of Sharples; father-in-law Stanley Wells and a host of cousins and friends. Emmett Ray was a 37-year employee of the Logan Water Company, serving as a Treatment Plant Operator. Emmett has served as an Administrator and contributor to the Facebook site, Blair, Spruce Fork, Sharples, WV Old Family Photos and History. His photos and stories growing up in a small community of Blair and love of family and friends are a legacy of a compassionate and caring man. He was an avid basketball player and fisherman. Emmett was of the Freewill Baptist Faith and attended Lundale Freewill Baptist Church, when his health permitted. Services will be held Sunday, October 20, 2013, at 1 p.m., at James Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Adkins and Rev. James Baisden officiating. Burial to follow at Boone Memorial Park. Visitation is Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers include Robbie White, Virgil "Skip" Wooten, David Adkins, Jessie Baldwin, Brian Kinder, and Everett Brumfield. Honorary Pallbearers, Jody Hager, Stanley Wells, Carl Baldwin, J.J. Baldwin. James Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of the arrangements.
