Dudley Athey was the son of William and Zelia Douglas Athey. This stone says he served in Co. E, 11th WV Infantry He and his brother, Austin, both served in this Company, and both died while serving. Dudley died of disease, and Austin was killed in action. This stone demonstrates what is happening to so many of the older gravestones.
