Braxtol R. Dent, 91, of St. Albans, formerly of Hewett, Boone County, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, after an extended illness.
Born May 17, 1917, in West Logan, he was the son of the late John S. and Ida M. Barker Dent. Braxtol was also preceded in death by his son, Carlos Dent; daughter, Carol Jean; grandson, Carlos Dent II; and great-grandson, Patrick Cole Dent.

Mr. Dent was a retired coalminer with 38 years of service, a member of the UMWA and a Freewill Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Mae Ball Dent of St. Albans; sons and their wives, Glenuel and Bernice Dent of Huntington and the Rev. Michael and Carolyn Dent of Maynardville, Tenn.; daughter and her husband, Gail and Barry Slone of Madison; brothers, Truman Dent of Oak Hill and Howard Dent of Lake Wales, Fla.; sisters, Jewel Bonham of Diamond and Gladys Williams of Chapmanville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside service and burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Dent family cemetery on the Meadow Fork of Hewett with Earl Akers officiating.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison.
