Truman L. Dent 89 of Lochgelly, West Virginia formerly of Madison, Boone Co. , went home to be with the Lord, Friday, March 6, 2009 after an extended illness.
Truman was born November 21, 1919 and was the son of the late John S. Dent and Ida M. Barker Dent. He was a retired coal miner, an Air Force veteran of WWII, and a Constable, Deputy Sheriff, and Jailor of Boone county. Truman was also a member of the UMWA and a Freewill Baptist.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Arlene Ellis Dent; brothers, Silmer, Braxtol, Sherman, Sherlie and Norman Dent; sister, Adria Nicholas and Hazel Barker.
Surviving are his daughter, Anna Jean Fisher of Oak Hill; son, Ward Fisher of Beckley; brother, Howard Dent of Lake Wales, FL.; sisters, Gladys Williams of Chapmanville and Jewell Bonham of Belle; three grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and five great-great granchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with Earl Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Dent Cemetery on Meadow Fork in Hewett, WV with military graveside rites by Daniel Boone Post VFW 5578, Madison, WV.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 9 at the funeral home.
